The following organizations helped make World Usability Day events happen in northeast Ohio:
The Cleveland chapter of AIGA hosted an event on November 14th that was not associated with World Usability Day but was related to the role that design plays in our world. See A panel discussion on sustainabilty and design.
The Cleveland area had public events at 3 locations: Kent State University (morning), Cuyahoga Community College (late afternoon) and the Cleveland Museum of Art (evening). There may have also been several northeast Ohio companies tht held events for their own employees (but those are not listed here).
From noon to 3pm, at the Kent State main library, first floor lobby, "Everyday usability" was explained with the following activties.
See Everyday Usability for additional information such as a map, directions and contact information.
The GEEKS+GURUS Visual Communication & Design Inspiration series presented "Web usability for designers", a quick, fun overview of what users hate about websites that designers love, and vice-versa. It took place from 4-5:15 pm at Tri-C Western Campus, Rm SS208/G208, in Parma.
Let's face it, though, we're all users at one time or another, and we all share similar frustrations with those damn websites that make us jump through too many hoops. Funny thing is that as web designers/developers we sometimes lose that perspective. Kristen and Marc helped you put it in perspective... and keep it there.
This Web Usability event was for Web developers, Web designers, Students, Teachers, and anyone who thinks that "user-friendly" ought to really mean what it says.
See Web usability for designers for additional information. See Geeks+Gurus description for even more information.
From 6pm - 8pm, the Cleveland Museum of Art Library was the location for quick and informal roundtable discussions on Accessibility, Web 2.0, User Research, Remote Usability Testing, Eye Tracking, Internal Usability, Art and Usability, and Landing Page Usability. The discussions were moderated by representatives from Keybank, Intuit, Kent State University, Progressive Insurance, Ernst & Young, eMergent Marketing, and Brulant.
Sponsored by KeyBank and facilitated by the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Usability Professionals Association (NEOUPA).
There was free admission and there were giveaways.
See Northeast Ohio World Usability Day for additional information such as a map, directions and contact information. Go to NEOUPA's World Usability Day at Cleveland Museum of Art Library for still more information.
